Advantages and Drawbacks of Reverse Phone Lookup Technology

Since the invention of telephones, people have been able to learn anyone’s phone number that was not unlisted by searching in a phone directory or by calling directory assistance. In recent years, a new twist has emerged on this called reverse phone lookup. This allows a person to find out who is the owner of a known telephone number. The ability to learn who owns a specific phone number has advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages

Certain people and groups have determined that calling at certain times of the day have a better chance of catching someone at home. These times are usually right at dinner time and at bed time. Telemarketers and bill collectors are the two main groups of people who call at such annoying times. One practice they have adopted is using cell phones to place these call. Many do this because of the ability to purchase free long distance plans rather than pay for business long distance.

It is sometimes difficult to trace the owners of cell phones. Difficult, but not impossible, there is normally a fee associated with using a reverse phone lookup for cell phones. This is because this information is not a matter of public record in the sense that directory information on land based phones is. Learning who owns a particular cell phone provides the means to put a stop to unwanted calls and allows for prosecution if your number is listed on the do not call registry and the telemarketer is trying to circumvent this law by using a cell phone.

Harassing calls are another good reason to use reverse phone lookups. If someone is calling your home or your cell phone with obscenities or making threats, a reverse phone lookup may be the tool needed to help the police make an arrest or the phone company block the calls. Even calls made from a pay phone can be traced using a reverse phone lookup. If a person is calling repeatedly at about the same time each day, the police can arrange to watch that phone and arrest the offender for harassment.

Bill collectors are another source of harassing calls. The law places limits on the number of calls they are allowed to make before they cross the line into harassment. Some collection agencies have attempted to circumvent this law by outsourcing these calls or using cell phones. If a phone number can be traced back to the collection agency and a log of calls created that shows a violation, legal action can be taken against the offending company.

Disadvantages

The single largest drawback to the advent of reverse phone lookup technology is the loss of privacy. Anyone who has your number can run a reverse phone lookup and find out several personal details about you. If you use a cell phone or have an unlisted number, the companies providing the reverse phone lookup must use databases that contain a lot more information than just names and addresses. This information is often made readily available to the person paying for the reverse phone lookup.

Your Porch Will Have A Huge Impact Upon Your Home

Finding the right deck railing plan for your home may take you quite a bit of time and energy. Luckily for you, there are many different deck railing designs that you can find on the internet for you to choose from for your deck.

One of the first things that you need to consider when finding the right railing plan for your home is to determine what size and design porch or deck that you want. Here are a few things for you to consider when you are building a porch onto your home:

1. Your family. Your porch will have a huge impact upon your home. Your activities that you and your family enjoy will dictate the size and design of your porch. For example, if you enjoy spending time outside with your family and friends, then you will want a larger area than you would if you are not interested in spending time outside on your porch.

2. Location. The location of your porch is important. Most homeowners choose to locate their porch on the front of their home or facing the southern sky. Some people would rather watch the sun going down and if this is you, you will want to take this into consideration for the location of your porch.

3. Your material choice. After you have determined the porch size and design, you will need to choose what kind of material that you are going to make it from. Homeowners are normally drawn more toward wood or metal railings, but there are other materials that you can choose. Consider the style and design of your home when choose your porch railings so that you will enhance your home. You will find that some railing materials look best on period style homes or contemporary homes, so make your choice carefully.

Railing Plans and Designs

Did you know that you do not have to spend a dime on porch railing designs or plans if you do not want to? There are many different plans available on the internet that are free. You only have to be willing to put in the time and effort to find them. Whether you choose wood, iron, or another material, you want to consider maintenance needs for each material to make sure that you choose the right materials for your porch railings.

Environment will also have an impact upon your porch railings choice. The moisture level of where you live will have some bearing upon how waterproof you need your porch railings material to be. If you want a more ornate or intricate railing, then you may want to choose a metal railing over wood, because it is easier to work with. There are other things that you need to consider when determining what porch railings are best for you and your home as well.

• Your budget is a huge consideration when choosing your deck railing plans or design. The more ornate or customized porch railing that you choose will raise the cost considerably.
• Railing plans may need to be connected with your home’s design or existing lighting.
• Your porch design and plan will also dictate the design of your porch railings.
• Installation difficulty, durability, and function are things that you need to consider as well.

A Pergo Floor Will Last For Years

You should think about laying down Pergo flooring in your home if you want great flooring. It has a great tongue and groove system that will make sure your floor looks great and is installed easily and accurately. You can do it on your own or hire a pro to install your pergo floor. Installing flooring is something you can do on your own if you really want to or get your retailer to recommend a trusted professional.

You will need to determine just how much flooring you need before you buy anything. You can use a room sizing calculator to help you figure out how much you need to buy. If you want to lay the floor down on your own than you will need to just buy your Pergo floor and go with it. It is a complete system so everything you need will be including in your installation package. You will receive the following:

• Pergo Glue (Make sure to use this so the warranty will be honored)

• Installation Kit – This will ensure tight joints and has spaces and a tapping block

• Pull bar – This will make sure that you have a tight fit in hard to get to spots

• Under-layments – This will get rid of any issues with your sub-floor and give you great insulation

• Floor clamps – These can make the installation mush smoother and will make your floor even sturdier

• Pergo Sealant – This will make sure that the gaps are secured between the fllor and the wall to make sure that moisture stays out

• Pergo Putty – This will help to repair any damaged areas that might occur when you are laying the flooring

• Installation straps – These will help make the whole task simpler for you

You should realize before you lay down your Pergo floor that it is for use inside only. You must lay it down as a floating floor and there must be enough room around the sides. You can not attach it to the sub-floor.

You also need to keep in mind you local temperature and humidity, as well a the movement in your home and around other objects. The expansion distance is about ¼” normally and you need to realize this for proper installation especially in a doorway or corner.

Make sure that your Pergo products are allowed to acclimate in their sealed boxes before installation. 48 hours is usually enough, but 96 hours can be required when the temperature is very dry. The humidity should be around 30-90% where the carpets will be installed.

Pergo can be laid on or below grade. You should also make sure the Pergo plans are installed over the Pergo Underlayment Foam or Whisperwalk. If you install on top of concrete then the Pergo 6-mil polyethylene vapor barrier is necessary. Check out sub-floor info before you install.

Where can i get old Mobile Home floor plans?

poppajoe is correct. All you need is the manufacturers phone number, serial number, and the model number. Be warned, though, if it’s really old it won’t be available.

UK Good resources/websites about have a log cabin home built?

Hello, I’m in the UK.

I’m considering the possibility of instead of buying a house, buying some land with planning permission and having a log cabin style small home built.

Are there any good websites with good advice about having this done, or any recommended log cabin companies?

Many thanks, Sarah

Sarah,

There are many good resources available online. Just start with a general search of "log homes" or "log Home Plans." By becoming familiar with the different products and services offered by different log home companies, you can build a list of "must haves" in your search for a local company. To begin your search try searching for "log home news." This is a great way to find sites that bring together information about the log home industry – from a design and technical standpoint. Turn to the professional organizations as well – try the Log Homes Council at www.loghomes.org. Also, try www.logcabindirectory.com and www.loghomeblog.com for information.

Happy searching. And, remember that many log home companies are international!

I need Mobile Home Awning Plans, what site do i go to? Not having any luck searching!?

We are going to move in a few days to our own land. We are planning on building a 8 x 10 deck. We have talked about building an awning for years and decided that we would like to really build one to be able to sit out side and watch the children play ect.. I have been searching the net but, I can not find any free plans for any sort of ideas. We kinda have an idea but, we just want to be sure that it is correct so the awning we build will look professional and add beauty to our Mobile Home. So if anyone has any plans or pictures or ideas we would really love to hear from you. I thank you so much for your time.. Kimberley

Stop by your local Lowe’s store and look in their book display. You will find several books on patio/deck covers with lots of pictures and plans. It costs nothing to look at the books. See something you like … you may want to make a purchase.

Another source of information is your local library. Most libraries have extensive collections of "home improvement" books. I am sure you will find something of value.

Good luck with your search.
